28 Oct Yulo Arrives in UK for World Championship
51st FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, Gymnastics, Philippine Team
Carlos Yulo has arrived in United Kingdom for the final stretch of his preparations for the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool which will be held from October 29 to November 6.
Yulo immediately went to work at the Manchester Academy of Gymnastics to continue his training after travelling from Paris, where he had a five-day training camp in order to keep himself in tip-top condition for the worlds.
The 22-year-old Yulo is going for glory once again in the world championships as he tries to follow up his one-gold, one-silver performance in Kitakyushu, Japan last year. The Filipino gymnastics star captured the gold medal in the vault and a silver in the parallel bars.
Yulo trained even as he is still fighting jetlag from all the travelling from Japan where he is training and studying to the United Kingdom where the competition will be held.
Prior to leaving Paris, Yulo expressed optimism about his campaign in the worlds despite a field in full force with some of the winners in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics now joining after missing last year’s competition.
In fact, unlike in Kitakyushu where he saw action in only three events, Yulo will now be competing in all the apparatus that will also make him in contention for a medal in the individual all-around.
